Tanunda implies "water hole" in Australian aboriginal language. It is among the towns in Barossa Valley that about 70 kilometres from the eastern area of Adelaide, Australia. Most inhabitants are Prussians of Germanic culture. The town was once a village of Bethanien long ago in 1842 until Prussian initially settled the place.
Culture
The culture of Tanunda is influenced by German Speaking Prussians. Singing is the conventional leisure activity of Prussian aided by musical devices like piano and brass. The park matches its surroundings and characters from storybooks. Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park is a perfect park for those who are nature oriented. The park reserves Australia’s indigenous vegetation, and also its land and water wildlife. There's also recreational areas that provide open space for picnic such as Kroemer’s Park and Heinemann Park. Aside from the wide picnic lawn of Kroemer’s Park, it also provides easy access for barbeque. From the name alone, Tanunda Recreation Park is place for outdoor recreation such bowling, tennis, swimming, and football.
Outdoor Activities
Trekking and biking are the most famous pursuits in the place. There are places that promote walking and cycling such as Heysen Walking Trail and Mawson Cycling Trail. Heysen Walking Trail is a 1200 km-walk from Parachilna Gorge to Fleurieu Peninsula. On hthe other hand, Mawson Cycling Trail is well suited for bikers who prefers biking in long distance along rural places. The cycling path is more than eight kms long starting from Torrens Linear Park right down to Flinders Ranges.
Historical Places
